RESEARCH INTERESTS

Put simply, I am interested in any way that I can answer the question, "How do animals do that?" The structure-function relationship between vertebrate morphology and biomechanics is at the center of my research. I have a few avenues through which I have explored this question and a few I'd like to try:

  • Kinetic/dynamic and kinematic analysis of unique activities
    • Digging, climbing, flying
    • During ontogeny or after injury/healing
  • Bone, muscle, and tendon
    • Size and shape
    • Mechanical properties
  • Specialization for arid environments
    • Ecology and conservation of deserts
